About me

Hello! My name is Anissa Sligar and I am from California. I have lived in a few places including Tennessee and Indiana, and it is amazing to see how different each place is. I am attending Walden University to obtain my bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. I have wanted to be a teacher for as long as I can remember, and I absolutely cannot wait until that day arrives. I am an early childhood educator while I am still in school, and I get to teach 2–3-year-olds currently and I love it. I have been teaching at preschools for about 4 years now and this experience has been like no other. I am able to learn what it is like to be a teacher and gain knowledge of so many things such as lesson planning, day-to-day routines, and so much more. I believe that each student is unique and powerful in their own way and helping them learn that is such a gift.

What is my mission?

I hope each child in my class feels welcome and safe. I strive to be the best teacher I can be and provide an environment where all of my children feel comfortable coming to me for anything they may need. Whether it be a shoulder to cry on, a nurse for their boo-boo, shoe tier, hug giver, hair braider, and so much more, I want to provide whatever I can to my students. Each student is unique and special in their own ways and it is an honor to be able to help shape their futures and teach them that they can be whatever they want to be.
